Black bear in Clayoquot Sound

Clayoquot Sound Black Bear Watching

From April to October, it is possible to have an intimate black bear watching experience in the beautiful, calm (so bumpy waters really shouldn't be a problem) water environment of the legendary Clayoquot Sound.

Trip departure times are governed by the tides because the bears are seen on the beaches at low tide as they forage for food, turning rocks and stones as they search for crabs, clams and barnacles. You can observe the bears from close quarters from the safety of a 24' Zodiac boat after a thorough safety briefing.

On board, knowledgeable guides will share information about black bears and the other inlet wildlife such as seals, eagles, porpoises, herons and even orcas.

The outing lasts about 2.5 hours and takes you through some truly wonderful scenery that you simply cannot reach by road.
