The Chedi

The Chedi

Muscat, Oman

The Chedi has done much to raise Oman's profile, and is one of the finest hotels in the country. Its series of low-rise buildings are set in beautifully tended gardens, an oasis of greenery soothed by pools of still water.

The interiors reflect a strong Asian influence: rooms are decorated with dark woods, slatted blinds, low beds and crisp white linens. They look out to water pools and palm gardens, with the interior mountains and shimmering sea of the gulf beyond. With three pools and a soothing spa complex, guests can enjoy a truly relaxing stay here.

OUR OPINION:

The Chedi is one of the best hotels in Muscat. It's modern, yet has traditional architecture and character, with plenty of space to sit and relax. We always receive very positive feedback from our clients who have stayed here.

Rooms

There are four room and suite types, all designed in a minimalist, luxurious style with open-plan bathrooms and views of the gardens, city, mountains or the sea. Amenities include a minibar, coffee machine, TV, music system and safe.

The entry-level Serai rooms are located in the three-storey Serai Wing, accommodating up to two adults and one child aged six and under in a queen size bed and sofa bed. They offer ample space at 33 square metres and plenty of natural light. The more spacious Deluxe rooms are located in the two-storey Chedi Wing, featuring a king size bed. There are also Deluxe Club rooms, which benefit from additional Club services, including airport transfers, a complimentary minibar and laundry service and access to the Club Lounge where daily afternoon tea, cocktails and canapés are served. Also enjoying these benefits, the 67 square metre Club Suites have a bedroom with king size bed and a separate lounge that can accommodate two children aged 12 and under on sofa beds. Housed in villas, they also feature a balcony or terrace and a bathtub.

Location

The hotel is set on the beach, yet right in the centre of the city and only ten miles east of the airport. It's just a ten-minute drive from the Grand Mosque, and most of Muscat’s sites are easily accessible. As such, the hotel is both a great base to explore Muscat from, as well as a place to relax.

Food and drink

Food is one of the highlights at The Chedi. The restaurant has four open kitchens serving Arabic, Mediterranean, Indian and Asian cuisine. Each coordinates timings so guests can order from a different kitchen, yet eat at the same time. The Beach Restaurant next to the sea has a stunning location and serves fresh seafood. There are also three poolside cabanas offering light meals and refreshments for lunch, as well as a Shisha Lounge and Lobby Lounge where guests can unwind at the end of the day.

Families

Baby cots and a babysitting service are available on request for an additional charge. Children under the age of 16 have to use the Serai Pool, as the Chedi Pool and Long Pool are reserved for adults only. Serai rooms can accommodate families with one child under the age of six, while the Club Suites can house up to two adults and two children aged 12 and under.

Facilities and activities

The infinity Chedi Pool has views out to the ocean, while the Long Pool is thought to be the longest swimming pool in the Middle East. There are two tennis courts and a renowned spa, now the largest in Muscat. The spa has 13 suites, offering a wide selection of treatments for an additional charge. There's also a shop offering a range of gifts.
