Itinerary idea in detail

Includes international flights from a choice of UK airports, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Hobart.

  • On-board your international outbound flight to Hobart.

  • On arrival in Hobart, you will be transferred by private vehicle to your downtown accommodation. The remainder of the day is free to relax. Perhaps shake off the jet lag by taking the MONA ferry to David Walsh's weird and wonderful museum of modern art — a Tasmanian icon.

  • Today, you will take a thrilling cruise around Bruny Island, full of stunning wildlife, such as seals, seabirds, dolphins, and whales, and dramatic coastal scenery. The next stop south from here is the Antarctic, so this truly is wild Tasmania at its finest.

  • Drive toward the rugged west coast and the pretty town of Strahan today, near the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. This journey should take most of the day as there is so much to see and do on the way — you might want to stop near Derwent Bridge to see the magnificent craftsmanship at the Wall in the Wilderness.

  • Take a cruise this morning to explore the wildlife and history of the majestic Gordon River — we will ensure you have the best seating on the Premium Upper Deck to experience this landmark in all its glory. This afternoon drive to Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park.

  • Explore the walks of the national park today at your leisure taking in the breathtaking views of Cradle Mountain. The Devils@Cradle is a great opportunity to meet a Tasmanian devil and learn more about these endangered creatures.

  • Drive across the northern countryside of Tasmania to Launceston. The Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm is a short detour to the north of Deloraine and serves a delicious lunch in a pretty setting.

  • Today is a free day in Launceston. You might like to visit the nearby Tamar Valley, which is a fantastic example of the boutique wineries of Tasmania which are producing some of the world's finest cool climate wines — Tassie's best-kept secret!

  • Continue your drive across the north of the state today to the east coast and Freycinet National Park — the scenery here is very different from its west coast counterparts. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore this wild coastline and some fantastic east coast wineries.

  • Explore the Freycinet Peninsula with opportunities for spotting dolphins, albatrosses and other wildlife. Take some time to see Wineglass Bay from the viewpoint to get the full effect and see the shape of the Isthmus.

  • Drive back to Hobart today. You may be interested in breaking the journey in the historical village of Richmond or visiting the wild Maria Island, known locally as Australia's Noah's Ark. Return your hire car at the airport before boarding your onward flight.

  • Arrive home today to complete your journey.
