Itinerary idea in detail

Includes international flights from a choice of UK airports, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Kathmandu.

  • Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. You might like to wander into the centre of the city to explore the markets and food stalls — a great spot to try some momos (local dumplings).

  • Explore Kathmandu and the Kathmandu Valley, visiting several temples, including Swayambhunath, Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath — a sacred Hindu temple. You'll be accompanied by a driver and experienced guide who can explain each site's history and cultural importance.

  • Journey to Pokhara by road, stopping off to break up the journey. Enjoy an afternoon exploring the second-largest city in Nepal. The gateway to the Himalaya, Pokhara is laid out alongside a lake with snow-capped views of the peaks jutting out beyond. There are a number of museums to explore including the International Mountain Museum which will give you a taste of what's to come.

  • Begin your three-day trek today, walking through Nepalese villages and hamlets before heading upwards into the foothills. Staying overnight in a luxury lodge with views right across the Himalaya.

  • Hike up to the bustling village of Ghandruk for an overnight stay. Along the route, you are likely to pass children on their way to school and locals carrying a variety of goods. Once you've arrived, there's time to explore the village if you have the energy.

  • Hike back down from the hills, passing more unique scenery and small villages. On reaching the road, you're driven back to Pokhara. Spend the night in Pokhara. If you have the time, you might like to walk to a local restaurant to sample some local food.

  • Travel to the medieval Newari town of Bandipur. This well-preserved town has many fine examples of 18th-century architecture, as well as small cafés, shops and temples. The afternoon is free to wander the cobbled streets.

  • Travel from Bandipur to Chitwan National Park. On arrival, you'll check in to a wildlife lodge and have the evening to relax. You might like to enjoy drinks in the hotel bar or star gazing in this area of minimal light pollution.

  • Today you will have a full day exploring the park. There are plenty of activities, including jungle walks, river safaris and jeep safaris. Hopefully you will be able to spot some of the one-horned rhino that reside here.

  • Another full day of activities in Chitwan. Your days can be tailored to your interests; if you're keen on birdwatching, you might enjoy a river safari to see some of the migrating bird species.

  • This morning, you should have the time to do another activity before leaving the jungle for your flight back to Kathmandu. On arrival, you will continue on to the village of Nagarkot, one of the best spots for soaking up panoramic mountain vistas.

  • Wake early this morning and enjoy a spectacular sunrise over the Himalaya. Today, you are free to explore nearby local villages or simply enjoy the views from the comfort of your hotel balcony.

  • Transfer to the airport for your return flights home. Your return flight will arrive the same day.
