Rooms

Dwarikas Kathmandu offers four room and suite types, all decorated and furnished using locally-sourced and crafted materials for an authentic, rustic feel. They also feature beamed ceilings, tiled floors and spacious en suite bathrooms.

The categories differ in terms of their size, although even the entry-level Heritage Deluxe rooms provide plenty of space, with many overlooking the charming courtyard. Heritage Junior Suites feature a divan for a spot of relaxation, while Heritage Executive Suites offer further luxury, with open-plan bathrooms, a personal computer and expansive living space.

Finally, the Royal Suite is designed to reflect the homes of Malla kings, spanning an impressive 250 square metres across three floors. An open-air breakfast terrace provides views of the hotel’s courtyard and the Himalayan peaks, while a wooden deck overlooks the spacious living area.

Location

The hotel is located in Kathmandu, giving you easy access to all of the city’s attractions.

Food and drink

The hotel has three restaurants and a bar, with the main restaurant, Krishnarpan, providing a slow dining experience influenced by the ritual feasts held by the valley’s locals, with meals ranging from 6 to 22 courses. There’s also Mako’s, a Japanese restaurant featuring a minimalist, zen-style decor, and the multi-cuisine, all day restaurant, Toran, where food can be enjoyed in the quaint courtyard.

The Fusion bar is set by the pool, and on Friday nights provides live band music and a barbecue.

Facilities and activities

Guests can indulge in a relaxing treatment in the hotel’s spa, which uses Ayurveda, Buddhist and traditional techniques. There’s also a library, which shows a documentary about the Himalayan region each evening, a fitness centre offering a complimentary yoga class each morning, an outdoor pool and a gift shop selling locally-made handicrafts.

Meanwhile, the business centre features three computers for communal use, allowing guests to use the internet and word processing programmes. Wi-Fi is available for free in some areas of the property, but there’s a small surcharge to access it in all areas unless you’re staying in a suite.
