Itinerary idea in detail

With international flights from a choice of airports including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Oslo. Upon arrival in Oslo, you'll be met at the airport and driven to your centrally located hotel. Once you've settled in, embark on a three-hour walking tour of the city's waterfront with your private guide. Visit main sites such as the Royal Palace, Akershus Fortress and Aker Brygge Harbour while learning about Oslo's long history.

  • Today, head out of Oslo with your private driver-guide to visit Oscarsborg Fortress. This fortress, on two islands in the narrowest part of Oslofjord, was built in the 19th century for defensive purposes and played a key role in defeating the German attack against Norway during World War II. After exploring the grounds and museum of the fortress, continue to nearby Drøbak, a town known for its wooden architecture. This is also home to the house of the Norwegian Santa Claus, Julenissen.

  • You'll be driven to the train station this morning in time to board the high-speed train to Myrdal. This is a scenic journey, taking you through mountains and forests, alongside rivers and across a desolate mountain plateau. At Myrdal, a mountaintop station, you'll change to the Flåm Railway, which transports you down to the fjordside village of Flåm. You'll pass rural settlements of wooden houses nestled into the hillside until, as you approach Flåm, the fjord itself comes into sight. You'll be met at the station by a private guide who will help you get your bearings in Flåm.

  • Today, take to the water to explore the fjord scenery by boat with a small group. In an open Zodiac boat, you'll travel through the heart of Norway's fjordland, discovering small villages and waterfalls as you traverse Nærøyfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is a narrow fjord whose steep-sided slopes tower over the water below. As you return toward Flåm, stop for a gentle hike into the hills to a traditional Norwegian mountain farm. Here you'll learn about the heritage of traditional goat's cheese production and indulge in a tasting before settling down to a lunch of homemade local produce. After lunch, you'll return by boat to Flåm.

  • This morning, board the Flåm Railway once more, changing at Myrdal to the Bergen train. When you arrive in Bergen, you'll be met at the station and taken to your hotel. The afternoon is yours to explore. You might want to wander through the boutique stalls and shops of Bryggen, Bergen's Old Town, or visit Bergenhus Fortress, one of Norway's oldest castles.

  • Meet your private guide and embark on a walking tour of Bergen this morning. Visit the wharf-side fish market, where fresh fish and seafood are sold daily. Explore hidden cobbled alleyways, brightly painted houses and studios while you learn about Bergen's history and culture. The tour ends with a ride up the Fløibanen funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen, for views across the city and surrounding fjords and islands. Later, continue exploring the city on your own.

  • You'll be driven to Bergen Airport today for your onward flight. Your return flight will arrive the same day.
