Hotel Leto Hydra

Hotel Leto Hydra

Hydra, Greece

Opened more than 50 years ago as a high-end boutique property in Hydra town, today Hotel Leto is still owned and run by the same family and continues to offer understated island indulgence. The hotel is set in a lovingly restored mansion, its whitewashed walls accented by pale blue shutters and bright purple and pink bougainvillea.

Inside, a welcoming atmosphere pervades with the decor and furnishings projecting an air of classy, laid-back luxury. Just beyond the small reception area, a sitting room with dark wood furniture topped with white upholstery offers a comfy place to relax, while the shady courtyard provides a pleasant spot for breakfast or a drink later in the day.

The 21 rooms are all bright and well-appointed with high quality furnishings and plush fabrics. The decor is simple and tasteful, with woven rugs, crisp white linens and solid wood furniture. Although there is no restaurant, breakfast is served on the terrace, and a bar in the sitting room serves drinks throughout the day.

The property also benefits from more facilities than many of the other small hotels on the island and has a small gym with a sauna, and a spa offering a range of services.

OUR OPINION:

The effects of Hotel Leto being family owned and run are everywhere, making the property wonderfully comfortable and welcoming. We love it for the atmosphere, chic style and excellent location.

The 21 rooms of the hotel are bright and comfortable and some offer small balconies where guests can sit out and admire the meandering lanes of the island. Rooms are furnished with high-quality, dark wood furniture topped with plush white linens and plump pillows. Many rooms feature large-scale photos of Hydra in times past, with images of the port and the island’s rugged landscape offering a historic view of the island. The marble bathrooms have modern fixtures and rain showers, and all rooms offer Wi-Fi, coffee machines and LCD TV.

Location

The hotel is set among the winding streets of Hydra town, just a few minutes’ walk from the main street which runs along the port. The cobbled streets, whitewashed buildings, flowering plants, and slow-moving mules make the area a photographer’s dream, and many shops and restaurants are located nearby. As there are no cars on Hydra, the hotel has porters to assist with bags from the port.

Food and drink

A buffet breakfast consisting of Greek and international options is served in a small dining area and outside in the shady courtyard. While there is no restaurant on site, the bar serves drinks throughout the day, and there are numerous dining options within a few minutes’ walk.

Hotel Leto is one of the only hotels on the island to offer a gym and spa. The spa includes a sauna and treatment rooms and offers a variety of services.
