Kenya by train

Today, you'll visit Nairobi’s Giraffe Centre and world-renowned Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to see how they care for orphaned baby elephant and learn about their impressive conservation work. This afternoon, enjoy a guided private hike in the picturesque Ngong Hills, which shadow Nairobi. Enjoy a delicious picnic with spectacular views — on a clear day, you may see as far as Mount Kenya and Mount Kilimanjaro.

This morning you'll set off by train to begin your safari adventure, passing through the Kenyan countryside. Look out for wildlife and enjoy views of Mount Kilimanjaro as you approach Voi. On arrival, enjoy an afternoon drive to Kipalo Hills, passing wildlife and experiencing the diverse landscapes and terrains of the area. In the evening, relax by the campfire with endless views over the Mbulia Conservancy and a delicious three-course dinner under the stars.

While staying at Kipalo Hills, you can enjoy morning and afternoon drives in the Mbulia Conservancy or venture out to explore the Tsavo East and West National Parks in a private vehicle. Walking safaris are also on offer, where you'll have the chance to learn about the smaller creatures, insects and plants found in the area.

Enjoy another day on safari in Tsavo, or visit the Sheldrick Voi Reintegration Unit in Tsavo East. The Voi Reintegration Unit is where the orphaned elephant go when they're ready to leave the Daphne Sheldrick nursery in Nairobi and reintegrate into the wild herds of Tsavo. The rangers will be on hand to tell you more about the foundation and answer any questions you may have.

After breakfast, enjoy a safari drive to Voi for your train journey to Mombasa. On arrival at Mombasa, your private driver will be waiting to take you to Pinewood Beach Resort & Spa for five nights of relaxation at the coast.

Pinewood Beach Resort & Spa offers an array of activities, such as fishing, diving and kitesurfing. Alternatively, spend the day relaxing by the pool or stroll down the endless palm-fringed beach.

During your stay, we recommend doing a full day snorkelling trip to Kisite Marine Park and swimming in the turquoise waters. There's a chance that you'll see dolphins, and you'll have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious Swahili lunch.

Spend the day relaxing at the beach, and in the late afternoon, set sail on a wooden dhow to watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean.

Enjoy the final full day of your trip. Perhaps book a spa treatment or visit one of the local villages.
