La Casona

Inkaterra La Casona

Cuzco, Peru

The entrance of La Casona, a small brown door on the Plaza Nazarenas, hints at little of the beautiful 16th century colonial manor house that forms the backdrop to the hotel. Built on Inca foundations, the hotel has been painstakingly restored to constitute perhaps the most stylish boutique hotel in Peru.

The colonnaded architecture of the central courtyard provides a shady and tranquil retreat, and the handful of rooms set off it are furnished with antiques and ooze character. Add to this the contemporary comforts and personalised service offered and you can really see why La Casona is a fine example of the best of what Cuzco has to offer.

OUR OPINION:

A great hotel from the Inkaterra chain, with excellent feedback from returning clients. Although unassuming from the outside, La Casona provides a really fantastic boutique option once you are inside. Superb levels of service are matched with rooms filled with character to produce a hotel that makes coming home from a day exploring Cuzco a real treat.

Rooms

Accommodation comprises three suite categories: Plaza Suites, Balcon Suites and Patio Suites. They all surround a beautiful central courtyard and either overlook the courtyard or have views over the city from private balconies. Each suite is furnished with antiques and original architectural details such as stone fireplaces and large marble bathrooms, whilst offering modern comforts such as heated floors, Wi-Fi access and flat-screen TVs.

Despite their name, the entry-level Patio Suites feel more like rooms in terms of not having additional seating areas, etc. They're furnished with either a king size bed or twin beds and feature an intimate dining area beside the stone fireplace. The Plaza and Balcony Suites, while offering more space, can be a little noisier as they only have single-glazed windows and face out onto the square, so do feel free to discuss your specific requirements with us.

Location

La Casona is located between the San Blas artist district and Cuzco's vibrant main square on the peaceful Plaza las Nazarenas, surrounded by lovely cobblestone streets. This central location means that the restaurants, cafés and bars that help bring Cuzco to life are only a short distance away, as well as many of the city's numerous sites of historic interest.

Food and drink

The hotel has a bar and a restaurant serving a buffet breakfast and à la carte lunches and dinners. Traditional Peruvian cuisine is given a modern twist using fresh, local ingredients, further helping you get under the skin of Peruvian hospitality.

Families

An extra bed or crib can be added to Balcon Suites for children up to the age of 12. Families can also purchase Child Explorer Kits, which feature a flashlight, cap, postcards, colouring pencils, a magnifying glass and a granola bar in a belt bag.

Facilities and activities

The hotel has a small spa treatment room which can be booked locally. The concierge service can also assist with booking local tours and more unique experiences such as coca leaf reading. A laundry service and a nanny service is available, while guests can also join in on movie nights.
