Itinerary idea in detail

Includes international flights from a choice of UK airports, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Cape Town.

  • Arriving in Cape Town, you’ll be met by an Audley representative before being privately transferred from the airport to your hotel for check-in. Today is a free day to allow you to explore at your own pace or relax and take some downtime at your hotel before discovering the Mother City. If you’re feeling refreshed after an afternoon siesta, you can head to the waterfront and grab a spot at one of the bars overlooking the harbour — an ideal place to enjoy a sundowner.

  • Your time today can be spent discovering Cape Town's best highlights. Your Table Mountain tickets can be used at any time of day, allowing you to head to the top of the mountain without letting the weather ruin your chances to take in the unrivalled panoramic views. You can grab a coffee and a bite to eat on Long and Kloof Street for some of the city’s best cafés and restaurants before strolling to the cultural quarter of Bo-Kaap, known for its flamboyant architecture, sobering history and incredible cuisine.

  • This morning, you’ll be whisked off by your private driver and guide for a full day exploring the Cape Point and Peninsula. The tour stops at Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point; here, you can spot eland, rock hyrax, bontebok and hundreds of bird species, including the African oystercatcher. You’ll also be rewarded with spectacular views of the rugged coastline, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans collide. You’ll head onto Simon’s Town, historically a naval base but now known for being home to the nearby growing penguin colony at Boulder’s Beach. In between the stops, you’ll be rewarded as the journey travels along some of the most scenic drives South Africa has to offer.

  • Today, you’ll set off for the Cape Winelands to the charming French-influenced town of Franschhoek. The scenery in this region is dominated by dramatic mountain landscapes and miles of vineyards, paired with an impressive concentration of award-winning restaurants and wine estates. Decorated in Cape Dutch style buildings, Franschhoek’s boutique shops and restaurants can be easily explored on foot.

  • You’ll step on board Franschhoek’s wine tram to hop between vineyards dotted around the Cape Winelands, allowing you to maximise the opportunity to indulge in wine flights and culinary pairings between family-owned boutique-style estates to sprawling wine farms.

  • You’ll embark on a long but rewarding journey heading north through striking landscapes and scenery to the Cederberg Mountains. As the surroundings transition from rolling headlands dotted with vineyards to wide-open sandstone-rigged cliff faces, you’ll know you’ve arrived at Bushmans Kloof Nature Reserve. Here, you can relax and indulge in farm-to-table cuisine and locally grown wine as you settle into your wild and rugged new surroundings.

  • Today is yours to make the most of the activities offered by Bushmans Kloof and their private nature reserve. Explore by foot or game vehicle with a guide, searching for Cape mountain zebra, hartebeest, ostrich, and even smaller, rarer critters such as bat-eared fox, African wildcat, Cape fox and caracal. In between your discoveries, you’ll also have the opportunity to learn about the 150 varieties of bird species and the diverse indigenous fynbos vegetation of the Cape Floral Region.

  • You’ll have a choice from an extensive range of activities, suiting all ranges of interest at Bushmans Kloof. However, we’d suggest ensuring you dedicate at least one of your days to joining a guided tour of the area’s historical rock artwork painted by the San people. You’ll learn about the nomadic tribe that once lived in the Cederberg’s sandstone caves and the stories told within their millennial-old paintings that decorate the cave walls.

  • It's your final morning at Bushmans Kloof. You might like to spend it exploring additional parts of the reserve on foot or a nature drive, or you can relax and indulge at the property's Riverside Gazebo Spa. Treatment options are extensive and take place outside with panoramic views overlooking the river. You can also use the heated pool, crystal steam room and health bar. When it's time to leave, you'll head south for Cape Town Airport, where you'll check in for your flight home.

  • Arrive home today to complete your journey.
