Tour of Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu

Your tour of Machu Picchu will incorporate the Temple of the Sun, the Royal Tomb and the Intihuatana ('Hitching Post of the Sun' — best known these days for getting chipped when the makers of a television commercial dropped some equipment on it). Your guide will explain the many theories that exist for the positioning and function of Machu Picchu, including astronomical, defence, religious training and trade ideas.

Your route around the site should be discussed with your guide, who will advise on the best way to explore, hopefully avoiding some of the crowds. He/she will also be able to advise on how strenuous the tour will be.

Please note that tour with your guide will normally take around two to three hours.
